YMCA of the Tri-Cities Receives $5,000 Website Redesign!

The YMCA was awarded $5,000 towards a website redesign.  Imageworks’ Refresh ‘08 contest asked, “Is your website stuck in 1992? Tell us who has the Columbia Basin’s worst website and we’ll design them a new one.”

Bernadette Flynn, Marketing Director for Hapo submitted the Y’s outdated website for the contest. The YMCA’s website was ultimately not the ugliest contender but was chosen for its potential to further the Y’s mission and help more local families through an improved online presence.

YMCA Marketing Director, Michelle Rankin said, “This new design is creative and fun, we asked for a youth friendly, yet professional looking website and Imageworks’ design team really delivered. Everything is well organized and easily accessible.”

The YMCA needed a new website for years, but as a non-profit agency the cost was prohibitive. Rankin explained at the Refresh Contest award ceremony, ‘Five thousand dollars will go a long way toward providing scholarships for families who can’t afford to pay for YMCA activities”.

In keeping with the YMCA’s youthful spirit, Imageworks even enlisted in the help of six year old Sophia Fetrow, the daughter of Imageworks’ staff photographer and likely the youngest graphic designer in town. Sophie provided a crayon colored rendition of the Y’s new logo which is incorporated into the design of the entire website.

“Imageworks is very proud of the help we could offer the YMCA.  Everyone here at Imageworks was excited when the YMCA was announced as the winner of Refresh ‘08! We are so proud of the design for the new website, that we will be adding it to our portfolio to show to potential clients.” Chris Collier, Marketing Specialist, Imageworks.

The YMCA is giving away prizes like fleece blankets and coffee mugs to the first 20 people to visit http://www.ymcatricities.org and sign up for their email newsletter.
